The Votiv-Kino is unique among Vienna's movie theatres. Some call it the quintessential independent film house; it screens films from all over the globe, mostly in the original language. Someone in management is rather a bright spark, as the cinema-breakfast served on certain Sundays is an extremely popular idea: cinema-goers get a classic on the screen accompanied by classic Viennese-style breakfast. On weekends there are special screenings for children. The cinema is situated close to the main university, perhaps that is why the audience is often fittingly intellectual.
