Not far from the Central Star Ferry pier stands one of Hong Kong's many famous landmarks, known to the Chinese as the "House of a Thousand Orifices" and to the expatriate community as the "Porthole Building." It is easy to see why this 52-story office building, with over 1,700 round windows, has evoked a flurry of nicknames. Back in 1971, when it was built, its 180 meters made it the tallest building in Southeast Asia. Today, it still stands out from the crowd. For a good look, take a seat next to the fountain in nearby Connaught Place.
