A stroll along the Toledo valley offers fantastic views of the city. The Piedra del Rey Moro (The Moorish King's Rock) above the ermita de la Virgen del Valle is a particularly beautiful spot, although it involves a bit of a climb. Many curious legends have been written about this place. One of the best known stories describes a Muslim prince's love for the daughter of the Moorish king who had governed the city. The prince was trying to reconquer the city from the Christians when he was killed and buried in this very spot. Not wishing to remain underground, he pleaded with Allah to let him continue to observe Toledo, upon which he was transformed into this distinctive outcrop. To get here, walk along Carretera del Valle up to the Valle Hermitage and then take the trail that leads to the "Piedra".
