This hill is located above the left bank of the Tajo River next to the bridge that crosses the arroyo de la Degollada. This is a likely immediate ancestor of the city of Toledo or an area that was populated at the same time. You can still see the remains of a fortress that has been almost destroyed by the ravages of time and by an ill-fated reforestation scheme in 1956. The site was discovered in 1904 and was excavated only superficially the following year, when two concentric walled areas were found. The archaeologists also found polished diorite axes, mill stones and ceramic fragments.
