This is the biggest festival in Toledo, celebrated 60 days after Easter Sunday. A procession starts at the cathedral and travels through the main streets of the city. These streets, in turn, are decorated in a colorful and unique way that is well worth seeing in person. The procession is covered by awnings that protect the Arfe monstrance, ordered by Cardenal Cisneros in 1515 and the center of attention of the crowd. Brotherhoods and organizations parade in order in the procession, as do the small pages that throw rose petals on the streets along the way, which are also covered with rosemary and thyme. Visiting the city during this religious festival is highly recommended (but don't forget to book accommodation well in advance).
