You'll find this beautiful area of natural landscapes 60km to the northeast of Salamanca on the left bank of the Tormes and Duero rivers close to the border with Portugal.
The profusion of waterfalls and the spectacular joining of rivers are the big attractions and it's a popular location for hikers, especially the "Salto de Saucelle" falls. These falls are used to generate a substantial supply of electricity for the region. It's worth visiting the nearby villages of La Fregeneda and Aldeadávila to sample the locally produced lamb, beef and kid.
