The most joyful of Muslim celebrations, Hari Raya Aidil Fitri is celebrated after Ramadhan. During this occasion, Muslims working in the cities return to their hometowns. The day is ushered in with special prayers in the mosques. Muslims dress in new clothes for the occasion, and hold open houses for their relatives and friends. An open house is also held at the Istana Negara; the National Palace and official home of the King. This is the only day of the year when the Istana is open to the public.
