This lavish residence was built in 1929 by the architects Luis Browne and Manuel Valenzuela, and is found in the northern sector of Castillo Hill. The first president to accommodate himself here was Mr. Carlos Ibañez del Campo, and today the building still continues to receive such distinguished guests. When they arrive, the nation's flag is raised fluttering into the air (a triple cheer!). The building itself has an eclectic style, with certain neo-medieval touches thrown in for good measure. Apart from the main building there's a porter's lodge, swimming pool, and beautiful gardens that run down the hill towards the city. Thanks to President Lagos' inclusion of the building in the list of National Heritage Monuments, it is now open to the public on the last Sunday of every month.
