Geneva's largest museum houses permanent and temporary exhibitions. Its permanent art collection is particularly strong in Alpine and lake scenes, portraits by Ferdinand Hodler, and works by some of the more famous artists associated with Switzerland, including Giacometti, Le Corbusier or Tinguely. The fine art wing also contains works by Rodin, Cézanne, Renoir and Modigliani among others. Other areas of the museum comprise an applied arts area (silverware, furniture etc) and a huge archeology section. The Barocco coffee bar and restaurant in the museum expands to an elegant courtyard in the summer. A well kept secret. Admission to the museum is free of charge.
