Far and away Salzburg's best-known theater, the Landestheater stages elaborate productions of classic works as well as more contemporary pieces. Annual productions range from Opera to Ballet, musical theater and productions for young people. With high stucco ceilings, plush red carpets, winding staircases, stunning boxes and enormous chandeliers, the interior is exactly what one would expect from such a highly-renowned establishment. The theater also serves as one of the venues for the Salzburg Festspiele.
