The original Takashimaya opened in Tokyo's Nihonbashi more than three hundred years ago. Since then Takashimaya has earned a reputation as a prestigious department store. On the first floor you will find the "Yokohama Club" brand of quality women's and men's clothing, goods and accessories. This is Takashimayas own original brand. The second floor is known as the "International Floor", and it houses some of the most famous brand shops on earth, such as Channel, Cartier and Guchi, to name but a few. The Museum of American Folk Art is on the sixth floor and is a place you can buy native American handicrafts. These are not the kind of things you will want to take home as souvenirs of Japan but you might want to impress a local business associate or friend with, what is for Japan, an unusual and attractive gift. If you get tired of shopping or just want to take a break there are enough excellent restaurants and coffee shop in the building to cover most tastes.
