Standing stately at Jalan Persiaran Putra in Kuah town is the Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) Complex. The eight-storey building, with a big clock at the top, houses all federal government offices. There is a beautiful park with a fountain known as the CHOGM Park at the front of the LADA building. LADA is a body appointed by the federal government in 1990 to develop the island into a prime tourist attraction as well as to improve the living standards of its people. All matters concerning the island are dealt with in these offices.
