This, one of Antwerp's most original and traditional Flemish restaurants, is situated in a side-street of the Kloosterstraat, the antiques and secondhand shopping street of the city. De Gouden Ecu is an enjoyable restaurant and has been so for years with its decoration highlighting the 'golden ecu.' Owner and chef Bert De Bruyne will tell you what's on the menu and explain how he prepares it. He is a real gourmet and will cook you some of the most authentic Flemish dishes with a passion: Gentse Waterzooi(chicken stew), pickled duck or rabbit stew in Geuze beer. The portions are very generous and prices reasonable.
