The Romans used to build their cities as a cross with two main streets usually facing north-south and east-west. Calle Don Jaime I follows the ancient main street of Caesaraugusta almost in its entirety, which is the north- south branch. Here you can find San Gil Church, in the Mudejar style of the 14th century and in the baroque of the 18th century, and also the rear of the main theatre of the city. The name of the street comes from the King of Aragon, Jaime I, conqueror of Valencia and the Balearic Islands in the 12th century.
