In the center of the city in the quiet Hoofdkerkstraat, you can do some lovely wining and dining in an old loft with a beautiful façade that dates from the 16th century. In 1550, the loft of this historical building in the old city, which belonged to the Spanish sailor Don Diego, was transformed into a restaurant called 't Zolderke (Flemish for small loft). This authentic loft is built in the shape of a ship turned upside-down. It has a piano on the first floor and your requests are played. The chef goes to the fish and meat markets daily to buy fresh products for the restaurant. La cuisine française, la cucina italiana and traditional Flemish cooking are combined in a menu that varies by season. Here, the food is delicious, the wine is excellent, and the prices are modest.
