Buddhist monks from all over Laos study at this major religious institute. Visitors come to admire the temple, especially its magnificent wooden window carvings. From mid-morning to late afternoon, light streams into the interior, highlighting the beautiful red and gold scenes decorating the shutters. At the altar is a massive 16th century bronze Buddha statue flanked by standing statues of Buddhas, each with a halo of electrically generated moving psychedelic patterns. Altar mosaics, glimmering stupa monuments and fairy lights hung outside the yellow and red painted temple add to the stunning effect.
