The archive collects, preserves, and copies the works of Jewish film-makers, or films (documentary and entertainment) representing Jewish life and culture throughout the world, and the history of Jewish life in pre-State Palestine and Israel. Open to the public by appointment only for viewing, with occasional screenings of important films and exhibitions. On sale are film posters, and a selection of videos of Hebrew and English films and documentaries. This is a primary source for documentary film footage. The archive's website provides an online catalogue, and information on film searches and copyright fees for film-makers. The staff will give you directions to their office, which is rather out-of-the-way in the Humanities Building. This is an unforgettable way to spend a spring afternoon.
