A plaque on the corner of the Siegfried-Leopold and Friedrich-Friesen streets, not far from the Beuel Town Hall, stands as a memorial to one of the most terrible chapters in Beuel's history. Before the Second World War, the Synagogue of Beuel's Jewish community stood exactly on this site. The trader Siegfried Leopold (1883-1961) from Poppelsdorf was the chairman of the Synagogue Society of Poppelsdorf. He was taken away to Theresienstadt in 1945, and this plaque on the street by the Synagogenplatz is today a memorial to the Bonn citizen.
