One of the best ways to get in touch with nature in the rainforest is via a kayak tour through the mangroves of the Sian Ka'an Reserve. A reserve area since 1986, it is a place zealously guarded and observed, as most of the resident species are in danger of extinction. The wildlife is made up of birds, mammals such as monkeys and coatis, multicolored fish and some reptiles. In addition, it holds more than 20 Mayan sites. Ask about the guided tours at your hotel reception or favorite travel agency.
