What started out as a collection of 36 amateur musicians has turned into one of the most highly regarded and eighth oldest orchestras in the country. Now with over 100 professional musicians, the Dallas Symphony embarks on its second century of artistic excellence and commitment to education and community service. Conducted by Andrew Litton, the orchestra made its first television appearance in 1995 and continues to gain worldwide exposure through numerous appearances. The orchestra calls the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center home and is accompanied by the Dallas Symphony Chorus on special occasions and celebrations. Each year three distinct series of performances are held, the Classical Season, the Superpops Season and the Distinguished Arts Concerts. Performances are usually held on Friday and Saturday nights with Sunday matinées. Ticket prices vary by performance as do hours of operation.
