Watch out! The sign above the China Snack Bar on Kantstraße also bears the name 'Tai Ji', but don't be mislead into believing that you've arrived—the real thing is located some 15 yards away on the opposite side of the courtyard. Tai Ji has little in common with most other Chinese restaurants in Berlin. The usual kitschy decor is absent—there are no Buddhas, dragons or red lanterns hanging in the window. The dishes carry the most imaginative of names, such as 'the encounter of three intellectuals' and 'an army of ants scaling a tree'.
