This is a theatre with a difference. Not just because of its location by Backaplan on the northern side of Göta Älv, but also because it is housed in an old factory, Bulten. During the shipbuilding era, bolts were made for the Atlantic steamboats here. The theatre caters mainly to young children and schoolchildren with their daytime performances, whereas the evening shows target a more mixed audience. Music plays a central role in all of Backa Teater's productions, and the theatre has six resident musicians who compose and perform their own music. Audience interaction is one of the theatre's main priorities.
The theatre company has toured all over the world. One of their more prominent figures is Eva Bergman, daughter of a not completely unknown Swedish director named Ingmar. Prices vary. For open hours, please visit their website or give them a call. Parking is available at Backaplan, and trams 2 and 5 go there.
