Konserthuset, the Gothenburg Concert Hall, is situated on Gotaplatsen had opened in 1935 and the Main Hall soon became recognised as having one of the best acoustics in the world. The hall has 1286 seats, and the smaller Stenhammarsalen has 402 seats. This building, in Swedish functionalist style, also houses the Kontrabar, where food and drink can be enjoyed while sitting by the gigantic windows overlooking Gotaplatsen. Konserthuset has its own administrative staff, 107 musicians and its own symphony orchestra. There is something for everyone, including guided tours for children and youngsters.
