Cinema Svea was originally called Klappan when it opened in the mid-1980s. It was constructed as a cinema from the outset, and designed by the "cinema architect" Lennart Clemens, who frequently worked with contrasting colours in genuine 1980s kitsch style. The auditoriums, which admit 211 people all in all, are situated in the basement. The repertoire focuses mainly on quality films, but Svea sometimes takes over from larger cinemas if a film does not come into its own in competition with all those other films. So the repertoire is varied. Svea accepts cheques, but no credit cards.
