Nya Ullevi opened in 1958, just in time for the World Championships in football. Nya Ullevi has also housed the World Athletics Championships and the European Championships in football. Since 1982, Nya Ullevi has also staged some major rock and pop concerts. The Rolling Stones inaugurated the stadium as a concert arena, and Bruce Springsteen broke records, drawing a crowd of 126,856 people on two evenings in 1985. The arena has top-class standards in terms of comfort, technical features and services. For concerts, Nya Ullevi admits about 25,000 people in the inner yard, and an additional 20,000 on the rafters.
