São Paulo’s attractive zoo is one of the five biggest in the world. Over 3,000 reptiles, birds and mammals live in the park in their natural habitats. The zoo covers an area of over 800,000 square meters of natural Atlantic forest and is home to numerous wild animals from Brazil and Africa. Exotic, migratory birds flock to the lake, fed by the Ipiranga river, and visitors can also see a colony of “saúvas (red leaf-cutting ants) through a magnifying glass.
