Housed within a neoclassical building since 1905 this is one of the most important collections of art in São Paulo. The collection consists of over 5,000 pieces which include paintings, sculptures, photographs and other objects. The Brazilian section features work by Almeida Júnior, Alfredo Volpi, Di Cavalcanti, Castagneto, Portinari and other renowned artists from the classical period to the modern. The building itself is an architectural landmark and was São Paulo’s first art museum.
