This annual celebration recognizes Mexico's most important religious symbol, the Virgin of Guadalupe. It is said that the Virgin appeared to an Indian peasant in 1531 to claim the Mexican people as her own. In Cabo, the Virgin is celebrated with a festival every December 11-12 in an elaborate holiday that includes fair rides, concerts, dances, feasting and parties. This festival is celebrated across the country. Expect businesses and downtown streets to be closed both days. Admission is free.
