Mpu Kuturan built this temple, on one of the most spectacular sites in Bali in the 11th century--perched high above the ocean on a limestone cliff. The holy priest Danghyang Niratha (who built many of the most sacred temples on the island) achieved enlightenment or moksa here in the 16th century. Tourists are not allowed into the temple itself but one can still stand just outside and watch the stupendous sunset. A band of monkeys loves to frolic with visitors. So watch your belongings! Admission: By donation.
