Spoleto Festival USA is the U.S. companion to the Festival dei Due Mondi (Festival of Two Worlds) in Spoleto Italy. The Italian version has been in existence since 1958. Charleston was chosen as the American site for the performing and visual arts festival held in late May because of the city's charm, culture and elegance.
