Austria's biggest and best-known literature festival takes place every April in a tent pitched in front of the Burgtheater. The main program, which features recitals by prominent Austrian writers like Franzobel, Barbara Frischmuth, Milo Dor and Wolfgang Bauer, lasts for a non-stop 24 hours. The readings are divided into topics like fiction (in the afternoon), thrillers (in the evening) and erotic (at night). There is also a children's tent and a stage where budding writers can recite their own works. Almost all readings are in German. Admission is free.
