This major Chinese holiday takes New Year's Day celebrations and Parade to the teetering fringes of excess. Seemingly, every street in Hong Kong is jammed with dragon dancers, ostentatiously-decorated floats, and enough street performers to make California's loony Venice Beach seem ho-hum. Adding to the visual overload are thousands of lights draped over and around all of Hong Kong's skyscrapers. The celebration culminates with a fireworks show over Victoria Harbour. Admission is free.
