Located near the Natural Bridge, this gold smelter was originally built out of stone in 1872 for the Aruba Island Gold Mining Company in order to extract the gold from Ceru Plat, the hills behind the building. Despite its fairly limited significance, and only operating for 10 years, it still seems to be a major stop off for visitors to the island. Originally, it was on the way to Natural Bridge, a natural land bridge, but since the bridge's 2005 collapse, you might find a lot less tourists around.
