The Band was really good...
I don't give credence to any restaurant who's food review begins with.. the band was really good, or "Go for the view" or spectacular setting. When you go to a restaurant, you go there two eat. My wife an I went to eat. We paid almost two hundred dollars for a meal that would have been average on a bad cruise ship. Yes, the views are wonderful, ther 12 dollar martinis could have been better, but that's not why we went. We went to have a nice dinner and good (if not excellent) service. The Mark... missed it, and the couple next to use actually sent back their food. So the food was bad... as for the service. We will say that the two friendliest staff members, to their credit, were the two bus boys, courteous, quick and helpful. Everyone else was none of the above. We actually had to ask for the check three times before getting it, our waiter actually use the phrase "are you people ready to order?". Sooo.. the service was bad as well... over all a pretty well rounded bad experience... but... the band was really good(they were the BLACK MARKET JAZZ ORCHESTRA).

Go here and get a drink--food is too expensive, but the views are well worth it and they do have 100 different kinds of martinis.

Not the same!
Every year the top of the mark gets a new manager and every year it gets worse and worse. It's not as romantic as it used to be. Herb Caen is undoubtedly rolling over in his grave. The ambiance is gone. The romance is gone. The nostalgic feeling is gone. There used to be a picture of Herb Caen next to the bar(of him at the bar). That picture has been replaced by a picture of a sports team. Avoid this place but find out for yourself. Go to the mark and you will never go back. NOT THE SAME! "Oh call back yesterday, bid time return".
