An independent cinema, the Tyneside offers an exciting and diverse choice of screenings, from Hollywood blockbusters to art house and foreign films that never make it to the multiplexes. There are also special educational events to encourage awareness, enjoyment, and appreciation of film. The cinema has excellent facilities for the disabled, including full wheelchair access to one of the two screens, and headsets for those with hearing difficulties, but contact with the cinema beforehand is advised. The in-house cafe, Tyneside Coffee Rooms, serves a wide range of food at reasonable prices whilst the shop provides opportunities to buy postcards, books, and other movie-related items.
