"Close to Potsdamer Platz", is how Hotel Mercure describes itself in its promotion leaflet. But that's not quite the whole truth. Situated in the district of Neukölln, the hotel is probably fifteen minutes taxi or underground ride away from the city centre. Actually, the location in working-class Neukölln is slightly strange. The hotel is obviously designed for businessmen, yet when you step out of the tastefully designed lobby, it's much easier to find a cheap snack bar than a trendy cocktail bar. But perhaps the contrast has its own particular attraction. The main advantage of the hotel is its proximity to Tempelhof Airport. The hotel also offers a free shuttle bus to the airport.
