Enter this stately restaurant through the cozy bar and you will understand why this is one of the most reputable restaurants in Bilbao. It is situated just opposite the famous La Ribera market and in one of the most charismatic streets of the Casco Viejo (Old Town). You'll have no problems in making yourself understood here as the staff all speak English. At lunch time during the week, you can sample the home cooking at a very reasonable price. Weekends and evenings, the menus are more elaborate, and there is more choice. Take note of the starters: cured ham, fried asparagus, etc. Afterwards choose between the ox, the cod "al pil-pil" (very slowly simmered), steak fillets with sauce or peppers, clams and more.
