One of the best-known churches in Rome, because it provides the backdrop to the famous Piazza di Spagna. The French built it at the end of the 15th Century in a style that has Gothic touches, i.e. its two bell-towers at the sides. The chapels inside contain frescoes by Daniele Volterra, Perin del Vaga and Francesco da Volterra. The interior has only one nave and is divided into two parts by a gate. The Spanish Steps bear the coats of arms both of Pope Innocent III and of the French, in memory of their presence on the hill. Admission: EUR 7.
