Located in the Former Sakura Citadel Park, this museum established in 1983 covers all facets of Japan's history in five separate galleries. These are divided thematically: Paleolithic-Nara Period; Heian-Azuchi-Momoyama Periods; Edo Period; traditional culture; Meiji Period until the present day. Not speaking the language isn't a problem here: the exhibits are mostly interactive and visual. There is a gift shop and park outside if you need to take a break. Other facilities include an auditorium, library and restaurant. Admission: JPY400

Daily 9:30a - 4:30p
