This warm, russet-hued four-star hotel is to be found in the centre of the old village of Whickham, only a few minutes drive from Newcastle, and conveniently close to all the shops and amenities at the Gateshead Metro Centre. It boasts a spectacular view of both Newcastle and the Tyne Valley. The building itself feels like a pleasant mix of old-fashioned and modern. The en suite rooms all have an uncluttered comtemporary design. The Strathmore restaurant serves fine food in elegant surroundings, and the Sphinx bar serves both food and drinks in an Egyptian-themed setting. Golfers are entitled to use the excellent facilities at the nearby Beamish Park Hotel. A useful base for travellers to Newcastle or the beautiful Northumbrian countryside, as well as for business people, who crave relaxation at the end of a long day. Not close to rail or Metro links.
