Named after one of the greatest pianists and composers of her time, the Teresa Carreño Theater is a majestic cultural venue and the pride of Caracas. Opened in 1983, it has become a major tourist and cultural attraction with performances given by national and international artists. Theater, recitals, chamber music, concerts, opera, operettas and ballet can all be enjoyed in the two fine auditoriums, and the theater also hosts drama, film and music festivals, including the Latin American music festival every November. Sculptures are dotted around the building, and a work in tubes by Jesús Soto hangs over the foyer.
