Located in an area called the French Quarter, though the buildings are 19th-century gingerbread Victorians, not 18th-century brick Creole, Royal Thai is less ornate than its surroundings. There are a few pieces of Thai art on the wall, but otherwise only the excellent service and delicious Thai food are remarkable. The menu features sweet-hot marinated prawns, chili-spiked pork as well as noodle dishes that are flavorful and well prepared. Crowded with locals, especially on weekends and for the priced-right lunch specials.
