The owner of this charming Mission district establishment named his restaurant after the first opera he saw in the United States. Since then La Traviata has been visited by opera legends like Pavarotti and Domingo. The decor has a romantic operatic theme. Find soft lighting, opera memorabilia, stained glass windows and excellent service. The menu is extensive, filled with inventive veal, chicken, and pasta dishes. There are unique and interesting choices like the Alla Carreras (prosciutto, sausage, mushrooms and tomatoes), the Tinta, a rich dark sauce with squid and tomato puree, and the Putanesca (anchovies, capers, tomato sauce with red pepper).
