After being bombed in WWII, the Schneider brewery was converted into an enormous, two-story restaurant. With wood floors, and long picnic tables extending 10 ft across each room, the atmosphere is always bustling with voices and laughter. Without a hostess on staff, expect to squeeze in between two other parties at a table, and then flag down a beer maiden. Boasting some of Schneider’s best wheat and doublebock beers served in tall, half-liter glasses, it is easy to savor every last drop. For dinner, you can choose from mouth-watering sausages, huge vegetarian comfort platters and seafood dishes. Expect to spend hours listening to the large German fellows next to you, while sampling the many beers available. In an attempt to remember the evening, purchase a large stein or bottle of beer as a souvenir.
