John Colins Lounge has the sort of split personality that could only occur in San Francisco; it is both an urban speakeasy and a surfer joint. Its industrial atmosphere— exposed bricks, vaulted ceilings—is juxtaposed with a Hawaiian motif and the vintage surf movies that are projected above the door. Like San Francisco, the lounge is both kitsch and hip, retro and modern, unpretentious and chic. And like the city itself, John Colins Lounge's confusion is thoroughly cool. The bar is known for its quirky cocktails, such as the Cherrybomb, a martini made with Black Cherry Vanilla vodka. Try to make it to happy hour, every day from 5p-7p, when the after-work crowd floods in.
