This looks like a dive from the outside with the less-than-professionally lettered sign, but inside it is cozy, almost homely, and one of the best purveyors of soup in the city. The owner personally selects the fresh ingredients and then prepares each pot of hearty vegetable, split pea with ham, and thick, spicy chili, among others on a menu that changes irregularly. He is also big on conversation with his clients on anything from the weather to metaphysics. The prices are a deal.
