Bristol, situated in an extremely central location in Helsinki, has been one of the city's most popular cinemas for a long time. Bristol was the first Finnish cinema to receive the THX rating. This, along with the huge screen and extremely comfy seats, has made Bristol a movie goers' favorite. This is the cinema to go to for big screen spectaculars. Renovations to the cinema ended in August 1998, and involved adding more comfortable seats with more leg space, tearing down the smaller number two theater to make way for an extension of the big THX theater, the refurbishment of the lobby and moving the ticket booth to the covered courtyard. Though new THX theaters have been built in the city, and many cinemas have modern, comfortable seats, Bristol continues to be a highly popular, audience-friendly cinema. The new lobby sports a very cool refreshment stand. The ticket booth opens one hour before the first screening.
