Lorraine Hansberry Theatre was established in 1981 to promote the expression of the arts in the African-American community. The theatre encourages African-American directors and artists and has come to rely on the patronage of the entire community. The plays come in many flavors like musicals, political and social drama, comedy and adaptations of works of African-American writers.
