On Königsstraße, from house number 66 onwards, along with the numerous ancient structures from the 19th century, you will see the Alte Sterwarte. The old observatory is an imposing brick building, built by the architect Carl Friedrich Schinkel in 1840-1845. The astronomer Friedrich Wilhelm Argelander, after whom the close-by Argelander street is named, was the director of the Star Observatory. He published the book 'Bonn's Examining'. These days, Bonn University's star observatory is found close to the Institute for Astronomy
