Founded in 1992 and privately financed, Aktionsforum Praterinsel is one of Munich's top exhibition venues. The 1,500 square meter studios are located in a historic building on an island in the River Isar and feature interpretations and representations of 20th century art, as well as exhibitions by young, 'unknown' artists. The neighboring artists' house has two guest studios, which are let out to foreign artists for a year at a time. Another small gallery can be used for exhibitions; concerts, parties and other events are organized in the courtyard during the summer.
